With winter just around the corner, it serves as a reminder for many to begin planning their long deserved ski holiday and this year should be no exception, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic and the international travel restrictions that have been in place because of this.

Holidays which involve wintersports can often mean there is more chance of risk for the traveller and whilst many remember to buy their travel insurance to help protect them financially should they need to receive any Emergency Medical Treatment, it is also important to be aware of the other areas travel insurance can offer protection for too. Notably, with a wintersports trip, you will be travelling with or hiring expensive sports equipment which will need to be covered too.

That's why Able2Travel Travel Insurance explain the features and benefits of its optional Wintersports travel insurance policy add-ons to ensure you are fully prepared and protected for almost any eventuality on your upcoming ski trip.

What Wintersports cover is available?

For a Wintersports leisure trip, it is worth considering the following additional options to add to the 'basic' policy to enable you to craft the perfect travel insurance solution for your individual needs.

Wintersports Equipment

This section of cover provides financial protection in the event your own, borrowed or hired wintersports equipment becomes damaged or stolen up to the value of £1,000.

This section also provides financial reimbursement should you need to hire wintersports equipment in the event your own is delayed in its arrival subject to you being deprived of their use for no less than 12 hours.

It is worth considering that any loss or damage to your ski equipment is not covered under the baggage section of the travel insurance policy.

Lift Pass

This section of cover offers financial reimbursement for the proportionate value of any lift pass (also known as a ski pass) you are unable to use following an accidental injury or sickness that prevents you from skiing or the loss or theft of your ski pass. Subject to the policy's terms and conditions, of course, up to the value of £750.

Ski Pack

This section provides cover for the proportionate value of any ski hire or ski school fee that you are unable to use following an accidental injury or sickness that prevents you from skiing, as medically certified, or the loss or theft of Your ski pass up to the value of £500.

Piste Closure

This section provides financial cover for each complete day that it is not possible to ski because all lifts are closed due to a complete lack of snow, adverse conditions or avalanche danger in your prebooked Trip resort. You will be covered for either: the costs You have paid for travel to an alternative resort including the necessary additional cost of a ski pass or a compensation payment to you after you return where no alternative is available.

Gadget Cover Option

This optional add on is separate from the cover available within the Wintersports Cover Option but is still just as important non the less.

This section of optional travel insurance cover offers protection for up to 5 of your gadgets including your mobile phone, video camera, laptop and many others for loss, damage or theft up to the value of £1,500.

Much needed protection to consider, especially whilst partaking in any Wintersports activities when the unexpected can happen such as damaging your electronic devices!
