How Able2Travel Travel Insurance Began?

The idea for Able2Travel Travel Insurance began over 15 years ago when one of the founders discovered that the travel insurance provided by the travel agent for their holiday excluded any claims arising from her husband's heart condition.

Fortunately, nothing occurred on that trip; however, she was concerned that many people with pre-existing medical conditions travel abroad believing that having travel insurance, for example, will cover them for claims related to any existing medical conditions they may have when very often that is not the case, unless these medical conditions have been disclosed and accepted by the Travel Insurer.

This presents a tremendous financial risk to people travelling with pre-existing medical conditions because even relatively minor treatment in the USA, or an air ambulance home from Spain, could cost tens of thousands of pounds. Travel Insurers are unlikely to meet the cost of these travel insurance claims if the cause is an undisclosed, pre-existing medical condition that has not been pre-agreed by the travel insurance company.
